In the list of top 10 Most Runs In IPL, there are six currently active players, with four getting the first four positions. Virat Kohli, the batting superstar gets on the top by scoring over seven thousand runs. Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner & Rohit Sharma occupy the – second, third & fourth positions respectively, having over six thousand runs.
The fifth, sixth & seventh positions have been occupied by – Suresh Raina, AB Devilliers & MS Dhoni(all have over five thousand runs). Chris Gayle gets the eighth spot while Robin Uthappa gets the ninth. Dinesh Karthik having more than four thousand runs gets to the tenth in the list of most runs in IPL.

1) Virat Kohli, 7263 – Virat Kohli 4th Highest Runs In IPL 2023 Player
Virat Kohli, the star RCB batsman gets the top position for scoring the most runs in IPL. He has 7263 runs so far in the IPL, in 229 innings of 237 matches. Kohli started his IPL career in 2008 with the RCB team & has played for the same franchise, till now. Also, Kohli has 7 as the most hundreds in IPL. He has an average of 37.24 & a strike-rate of 130.02 while having the highest score of 113.
Virat Kohli is the only player in the IPL history having over 7000 runs. His 973 runs in the 2016 IPL season is also the most runs in a single IPL season.
2) Shikhar Dhawan, 6617
Shikhar Dhawan, currently the Punjab Kings opener in IPL has occupied the 2nd position in this contest by scoring over 6 thousand runs. He has 6617 runs in 217 matches (216 innings) with an average of 35.38 & a strike-rate of 127.17.
Dhawan has 50 fifties and two hundreds that came in 2020 in the consecutive innings for Delhi Capitals. His highest score of 106* came against Punjab Kings.
3) David Warner, 6397 – 8th Leading Run Scorer In IPL 2023
David Warner, one of the six active players in this list has 6397 runs in 176 innings with a very good strike-rate of 139.91. He stands 3rd in this list of most runs in IPL, starting his IPL career in 2009. He has 4 hundreds to his name with the highest score of 126.
Warner comes first for the most fifties in IPL with 61 fifties & second for the highest average in IPL with 41.53. He was the second for the most runs in IPL-2016 with 848 runs.
4) Rohit Sharma, 6203
With 6203 runs against his name, Rohit Sharma comes fourth to the list of most runs in IPL. He has done this in the 237 innings of 242 matches, at an average of 29.67 & a strike-rate of 130.06 . He has 42 fifties in addition to one hundred, with the highest of 109*.
5) Suresh Raina, 5528
Suresh Raina, the unsung Indian hero played the IPL from 2008 to 2021 and went onto make more than five thousand runs to stand 5th in this list. In exact, he scored 5528 runs in the 200 innings(205 Mts) he batted with an average of 32.51 & a strike-rate of 136.73 . The left-hander had a highest score of 100* in addition to one hundred & 39 fifties. Raina also has a 16 balls – one of the fastest fifty in IPL, all time.
6) AB De Villiers, 5162
This great South African batsman has played for his teams in the IPL, from 2008 to 2021 in 184 matches. He stands 6th in the list of most runs in IPL by scoring 5162 runs in 170 innings. He has a very good performance both, by – average(39.72) and strike-rate(151.68). AB has 43 fifty plus scores including 3 centuries & a highest score of 133*.
7) MS Dhoni, 5082
He is the fifth currently active player in this list, having played 249 matches so far in the IPL. Dhoni is the 7th for the most runs in IPL, all time with 5082 runs in the 217 innings he batted with 24 fifties. The strike-rate & average for Dhoni are 135.95 & 39.09 respectively. There are 87 not outs, the most in the IPL.
He has batted in the middle or the lower middle order, almost in his entire career. This can be explained by his 4805 runs in the 203 innings he batted at the 4-7 batting positions.
8) Chris Gayle, 4965
Chris Gayle, the Universal Boss gets the eighth position for the most runs in IPL scoring 4965 runs in the 147 innings of 148 matches at an average of 39.72 & a strike-rate of 148.96. In addition to 31 fifties, he has – 6 as the second most hundreds in IPL, 175* as the highest score in IPL & 357 as the most sixes in IPL.
9) Robin Uthappa, 4952
The former Indian right handed batsman Robin Uthappa went on to score 4952 runs at an average of 27.51 with the strike-rate of 130.35, taking 197 innings of 205 matches. There are 27 fifty plus scores for Uthappa with a highest score of 88.
10) Dinesh Karthik, 4516
The sixth currently active player in this list, Dinesh Karthik stands tenth for the most runs in IPL having 4516 runs(221 innings) with an average of 25.80 and the strike-rate of 132.70, in addition to 20 fifties. Karthik has played 242 matches in total, in a career starting from 2008.
