1. Michael Clarke, 329*

Michael Clarke hit a Triple Hundred against India in the 2nd test(at SCG) of 2011-12 India – Australia Test Series, scoring 329 not out that included 39 fours & 1 six.

When Clarke went to the crease, Australia was reeling at 37-3 and then he stitched a 288 runs partnership with Ricky Ponting who scored 134. Thereafter, he had an unbroken 334 runs partnership with Mike Hussey who scored 150 not out.

In this, Clarke went on to score a triple century before Australia declared at 659/4 and won the match by an innings.

2. VVS Laxman, 281

VVS Laxman who has the 3rd most runs in India-Australia Tests, stands second in the highest individual scores under this rivalry with 281, an innings that is one of the best in the test cricket history.

This innings was played in the 2nd test match(at Eden Gardens) of the 2000/01 India – Australia Test Series. After the first innings collapse India was forced to play the follow-on.

In the second innings Laxman had a memorable 376 runs partnership with Dravid who scored 180. He went on to score 281 which included 44 fours. This innings brought India back from the jaws of a defeat and gave a memorable win.

3. Ricky Ponting, 257

Ricky Ponting’s 257 which is his highest test score as well, occupies the third position in the list of highest individual scores in India-Australia tests.

This innings was played in the 3rd test(at MCG) of the 2003/04 India – Australia Test Series which Australia won by 9 wickets, after a loss in the previous match. Ponting hit 25 fours in this 458 balls faced innings.

4. Ricky Ponting, 242

Ricky Ponting, who is among the most 100s in WC players, now comes with a score of 242 that was scored in the 2nd test(at Adelaide) of the 2003/04 series, so one of the back-to-back double hundreds for Ponting.

In this innings, Ponting sent the ball beyond the boundary line on 31 occasions. However this innings came in the cause of loss for Australia because of a great knock by Rahul Dravid.

5. Sachin Tendulkar, 241* – Most Runs In India-Australia Tests Player

241* by Sachin Tendulkar the – most runs in WC history & most runs in single WC edition player, at Sydney ranks fifth in the highest individual scores in India-Australia tests. It was one of the 4 double hundreds scored in the 2003/04 test series.This was 4th & the last test of the series.

This was an innings of self-restraint, monk-like patience & sheer willpower which resulted him scoring his highest test score against Australia. The most Test 100s player had a 353 runs partnership with Laxman for the fourth wicket before India declaring at 705/7.

Sachin had 33 fours in this 436 balls knock. This match as well as the series ended in a draw. Sachin has the most fifties in India-Australia tests as well as the most hundreds under this rivalry.

6. Rahul Dravid, 233

The innings of 233 was played by Dravid in the same match in which Ponting scored 242, mentioned above. Dravid hit 23 fours & 1 six in this marvelous innings.

In reply to Australia’s 556 in the first innings, India was struggling at one stage, with a score of 85/4. Then Dravid had a 303 runs partnership with Laxman, before 523 in total were scored in the first innings. In the second innings Dravid scored 91* and provided India a memorable win.

7. MS Dhoni, 224

In the 1st test(at Chennai) of the 2012/13 India – Australia Test Series, Dhoni created a record by becoming the only Indian wicketkeeper batsman to score a test double hundred. He scored 224 in the first innings which also is the third in the list of most runs in an innings by a wicketkeeper batsman.

Dhoni batted at the sixth position and made 224, taking only 265 balls which included 24 fours & 6 sixes. India won the match by 8 wickets.

8. Justin Langer, 223

Justin Langer’s 223 comes 8th in the top 10 highest individual scores in India-Australia Tests which he made in 1999/00 India – Australia Test Series.

He made 223 runs off 355 balls including 30 fours, in the 3rd test of the series, at Sydney which helped Australia win the match by an innings and 141 runs.

9. Ricky Ponting, 221

Third time, Ricky Ponting joins the list of top 10 highest individual scores in India-Australia tests. He is the only one in this list whose name appears thrice. His score of 221 makes it 9th to the list which was scored in the fourth test(at Adelaide), of the 2011/12 India-Australia test series.

After 84/3, Ponting stitched a 386 runs partnership with Michael Clarke who scored 210 before winning the match by 298 runs. 21 fours Ponting had in this innings.

10. Sachin Tendulkar, 214

214 off 363 balls including 22 fours and 2 sixes, Sachin scored in the second test(at Bengaluru) against Australia in the 2009/10 India – Australia Test Series. He is only the second in the list above with his name twice, after Ricky Ponting.

During this innings, Sachin formed a 308 runs partnership with Murli Vijay who scored 119, helping India win the match as well as the series.
