The India Vs Australia Test Series is one of the greatest rivalries in cricket.It is also called as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the 2022/23 India Vs Australia Test Series that takes place with a schedule from 9th February to 13th March 2023, India come victorious by 2-1. India Vs Australia Test Series – History

The First Test Series between India and Australia was played back in 1947/48, in Australia. Australia was the first nation that India toured after the Independence. However,the tours then between both the nations were not fixed like The Ashes.

In the Second Series, Australia toured India in 1956/57. After this,there were 10 test series played taking it to a total of 12 in 1991/92. A total of 50 Tests were played upto the 1991/92 series. Among these, Australia won 7 while India won 1 test series. India’s first test win vs Australia came in the 1959/60 test series while the first test series win against Australia, came in 1979/80.

Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The India Vs Australia Test Series was renamed as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 1996 after the names of former Australian captain Allan Border and Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar .For a drawn series,the country holding the trophy retains it. In First Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia toured India in 1996/97 and since then there have been 16 series till 2022/23.
