The Asia Cup Cricket tournament is an international cricket tournament between Asian Countries and alternates every two-year between One Day International & T20 International cricket. Established in 1983, the Asia Cup is officially known as the ACC Men’s Asia Cup or ACC Cup. It involves the – One Day Internationals & Twenty-20 Internationals formats of the game and is the only continental championship in cricket.
The first edition of the Asia Cup cricket was held in 1984, in UAE in which India became the champions. India didn’t participate in the 1986 edition while Pakistan does the same in the 1990/91 edition & 1993 edition was cancelled. The ACC offices were based in UAE, until 1995. Sri Lanka wins the 2022 edition while India have come victorious in the latest 2023 edition.
The ACC announced that the Asia Cup tournament would be held biennially from 2009 onwards. There was a decision that the Asia Cup events from 2016 would be played between ODI & T20I formats. The 2016 event happened to be the first one played in the T-20 format which was won by India.
In respect of titles win, India is the most successful team, have won 8 titles( 7 ODIs & 1 T20Is) so far while Sri Lanka is the second with 6 titles. Sri Lanka has played 16 as the most Asia Cup tournaments, followed by India, Bangladesh & Pakistan with 15 by each. In respect of the most runs, Sanath Jayasuriya comes first in the ODI format & Virat Kohli does it in the T20I format, while for the most wickets – Muthiah Muralidharan & Bhuvaneshwar Kumar lead in the ODIs & T20Is respectively.

The 2023 Asia Cup cricket tournament was scheduled from 30th August to 17th September. It was the first Asia Cup to be hosted by multiple countries, the four matches played in Pakistan & the remaining nine in Sri Lanka. In total, 13 matches were played in 2023 edition which included 6 group stage matches, 6 super fours & one final. In the group stage, each team played two matches while in the super four stage it was three for each team.

India & Sri Lanka made it to the final which India won by 10 wickets, ultimately winning the tournament. The Asia Cup tournaments have been started on rotation basis between ODI & T20 formats, from 2016. There have been Two T20 Asia Cup Cricket tournaments so far( 2016, 2022), with the first one held in Bangladesh & the second one in UAE.
T20 Asia Cup Cricket 2016
The 2016 edition was the first tournament in T20I format, played between 5 teams just ahead of ICC World T20 2016. It was hosted by Bangladesh, for third consecutive time. India beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the final, in Mirpur & made it a total of 6 titles won. Shikhar Dhawan was given the man of the match award for his 60 runs(44 balls).

Asia Cup 2018 tournament was held in UAE, in the ODI format. The defending champions India retained their title, after beating Bangladesh by 3 wickets in the final, in Dubai. Litton Das was the man of the match for 121 runs(117 balls).

Asia Cup Final 2022 : Asia Cup 2022 Final Match , Who won Asia Cup 2022 ?
In the final match of the 2022 Asia Cup played in Dubai, Pakistan opted bowling against Sri Lanka. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 170/6 with Bhanuka Rajapaksa top scoring(71 runs, 45 balls, 6 fours, 3 sixes) & Harris Rauf taking the most wickets( 3/29). In the second innings Pakistan managed to score 147/10 and lost the match by 23 runs. So Sri Lanka went on winning the 2nd edition of the T20 Asia Cup.
